Footsteps of St Patrick: Mission and Vocation

This one‑hour workshop invites educators to explore mission and vocation through the stories that shape us — from the biblical road to Emmaus to the persistent inner calling echoed in Drawing New Maps of Hope. Using the journeys of Moana and St Patrick as metaphors for discernment, courage, and purpose, participants reflect on how God calls each person into deeper mission within their school community.

Grounded in Scripture and enriched by the themes of Pope Leo XIV’s Drawing New Maps of Hope, this session highlights Catholic education as a collective endeavour where faith, culture, and life intertwine. Staff are encouraged to see themselves as bearers of hope: people who listen deeply, accompany others, build bridges, and create environments where students flourish through encouragement, compassion, and courageous leadership.

With a facilitator guide, slide deck, and practical reflection routines, this workshop supports educators to recognise Christ walking beside them in their vocation and to identify small, meaningful commitments that embody their mission.

Purpose: To deepen Catholic identity and leadership throughout 2026, including: exploring the lives and charisms of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Patrick; engaging with the MACS Forming Hearts: Faith Formation Framework and key Papal Documents. Staff in Catholic schools will encounter the theology of grace and accompaniment by embarking on strategic accreditation plans that move staff from compliance to a "burning heart" encounter with Christ.

There is a significant amount of material included within each slide deck and facilitator guide, and you may need to adjust the material presented to suit the time available for your school’s context. The slide deck contains required visual content, embedded media, Scripture, prayer, and formation prompts that support the integrity and consistency of the PL program. Each part of the prepared presentation is intentionally aligned with the Faith Formation Framework and the Accreditation criteria. Please ensure that each session is delivered for the required duration to meet accreditation purposes.
